At the end of 2010, the Panel Households were distributed in Colombo, Panadura, Kalutara, Ratnapura, Negombo, Kurunegala, Kandy and Galle. Additional areas including Jaffna will be included in 2011.

Our choice of location is currently based on the presence of Supermarkets in key areas. However, with time we expect to have a fuller coverage of the 25 districts.

Every year we conduct a large Omnibus Survey of 6000 Households selected at random from the entire Island. We use this as a vehicle to obtain estimates of selected basic Household Data such as Penetration of Household Durables, Penetration of TV Channels and Internet Usage. In the process, we also collect data pertaining to the types of Retail Outlets used by Homemakers to buy their requirements of branded fmcg's.

It must be emphasized that this is NOT a Panel of Supermarkets. SRL SuperTrak tracks Consumer Purchases and not Supermarket Sales. Having said that we should also state that Consumer Purchases from all the major supermarkets chains such as Cargills, Keells, Arpico , Laughfs and from other standalone Supermarkets are included in the Database.
